READ ENTIRE GUIDE BEFORE UNPACKING AND INSTALLING
STEP ONE
Open crate or box, locate the slab base inside the crate (unless installing of a full sized pedestal) and unpack it on a soft surface.
If installing on full sized pedestal determine placement of pedestal and make
sure it is leveled.
Step Two
The sculpture is surrounded by packing peanuts, with a bucket and a
trash bag slowly begin to remove the packing peanuts. Be extremely
careful not to touch the sculpture during this process. Carefully brush
peanuts away from the sculpture by hand and proceed to remove
them using the bucket. Do not remove
sculpture until all peanuts are removed from the crate.
Step Three
Before removing the sculpture from the box make sure the base or pedestal is in
position and has been leveled. The sculpture must go directly from the crate to its base.
Carefully remove all the braces. The sculpture balances on a stainless steel pin. It will
remain upright after all the braces have been removed. CAREFULLY REMOVE HDPE
(clear film) FROM SCULPTURE.
Step Four
To remove the sculpture from the crate refer to the video on how to handle the
sculpture
Step Five
Place sculpture on base. Confirm orientation prior to placement.
With one technician watching to make sure the pin is being
inserted correctly, the other technician must keep a firm grip on
the sculpture PIN MUST BE AT 90 DEGREE ANGLE - once the
pin lines up perfectly, the sculpture will want to abruptly drop into
the hole. Take care to make sure it is let down easily.
For deinstallation follow this guide in reverse.
Before placing the sculpture in the box, cut a clean piece of HDPE
and drape inside the box. Gently wrap sculpture in HDPE.
It is CRITICALLY important when packing the work that the
peanuts are worked into the crate. Fill up the box in stages and
carefully work peanuts into the negative spaces around the
sculpture. Being careful to not touch the sculpture during this
process. Make sure that the crate is fully filled with packing
peanuts.
